A group of Enfuegans took to the pitch at John Hunt Park excited about the new season, excited about some new players, missing some old ones and loving the fact that we started our season on grass.....that's right we played on grass!!! We played an FC team that had beaten us 2-1 both times in our Division II days so we knew we could play with them. Frankly at the end, it was whether or not they could play with us!!
The field was huge in comparison to some of the others we play on, but Enfuego did well enough in the first half to carry a 1-0 lead into the break after Vince dribbled the keeper and hit a nice shot into the left side netting.
The defense was very strong led by Mike, Shawn, Jay and Todd along with David and Michael subbing in. New Chris and New Jim were frankly welcome additions and should really bolster our midfield with their ability to hold and solid first touches.
Unfortunately in the middle of the second half an attempted clear or shot depending on your view was sent back to the keeper and the resulting rebound led to a goal for FC International. The rest of the half was back and forth with EnFuego putting some real pressure on the FC goal, but nothing would find it's way to the back of the net.
